Tom Petty Model 660-12TP

in Fireglo

1993

The inspiration for this artist signature edition was the 1963 Fireglo 625/12, belonging to Mike Campbell that Tom was holding on the cover of the "Damn the Torpedoes" album. First released in 1991 in both Fireglo and Jetglo, the Fireglo examples of this artist signature model 660-12TP often had birdseye maple fronts that could be quite pronounced. 1000 were issued, mostly in Fireglo. This model is finished with checkerboard body binding, pearloid fretboard inlays, gold pickguard and truss rod cover and a "trapeze" tailpiece. This example comes with its original hardshell case, with both guitar and COA signed by the artist. At the completion of the run of 1000, Rickenbacker continued to issue the model 660 in 12-and 6-string configurations without the signature top pickguard.
