This guitar is a part of the Fender Custom Shop "Dealer Select" series commissioned exclusively by Detroit Guitar, a prominent Fender Custom Shop dealer located in Royal Oak, Michigan. Rather than being a standard, catalog-production model, a "Dealer Select" run means the store's team collaborated directly with Fender's builders to design a batch of instruments tailored to a unique set of premium player specifications. This guitar in the "Detroit" run was built upon a 1962 Stratocaster platform, and was modified with several proprietary, player-centric upgrades that set them apart from traditional vintage reissues. For example, the pickups are specifically voiced with a lightly underwound neck pickup, a regular middle pickup, and a lightly overwound bridge pickup to deliver a balanced volume output across all positions. Traditional 1962 Strats require you to unscrew and remove the neck just to adjust the truss rod at the vintage heel. The Detroit spec updates this with a convenient adjustment access point right at the headstock. Other features are expanded "Push/Push" switching and modern body routing and shielding.
